A checklist to choose a lead provider
Before you sign with a lead provider, run this checklist by them. If they fail most of the points, keep looking.
Choosing a lead provider blind is the number-one cause of bad experiences. This checklist condenses what really matters so you evaluate with criteria, not by the prettiest promise.
Quality and qualification
- Do they filter by your ICP or sell the same file to everyone?
- Do they verify the data before delivery?
- Do they include intent signals and score, or just contact?
- Do they deliver context and next action per lead?
Model and transparency
- Is there a dashboard and traceability per lead?
- Is the model flexible or do they lock you in?
- Do they offer exclusivity when you need it?
- Do they give you a sample before committing volume?
Compliance
- Can they explain the data origin?
- Do they have a clear legal basis and GDPR approach?
- Is there a defined review and replacement process?
The golden rule
- If a provider cannot explain data origin, do not buy
- If they will not give you a sample, be wary
- If there is no definition of a valid lead, there is no way to claim
How to use it
Run this list by two or three providers and compare the answers. The one that clearly passes the most points, with substance not marketing, is your best option. And always validate with a sample before scaling.
